Though I'm a game designer by trade, I love doodling art and want to show it off, even if it's slightly unrelated. It's my hobby—sue me!

Soooo I was playing the new mine turtle game and I had to delete my most recent post so survive. It payed off I won! So here’s the re-upload of the Dan and Phil thing.

Yesterday I went to see DanAndPhil live for the first time! Genuinely a magical show. While waiting to be seated I doodled the tour poster. Thank you to @chloebalmain06 for coming with me and massively showing me up in the outfit department, even in the Scottish weather.

So… I’ve got a new addiction. Marvel rivals is good, really good and I wanted to have a try of its art style. In a “class shooter” game witch rivals is you can’t have the hero’s to alike, and most of Marvels “Tanky” characters who aren’t in the game yet (Cyclops/ She-hulk/ The Thing) there all mechanically very similar, so I wanted to pick a hero who I haven’t seen a lot of people suggest, who would themselves fill a unique hole in the roster.

Here’s my pitch: Hulking would play an aerial tank. By nature of balancing it wouldn’t be infinite flight like Ironman or Storm has but be on a long cooldown like star lord’s with more control. Falling once his wings have taken enough damage. Like how Punisher looses his turret. The gimmick being Hulkings attacks are good, but they are better when off the ground. Meaning you have to find and keep airtime to get the most out of your attacks, while being the centre of attention and getting shot down constantly.

Story wise the way I imagine it, this is a Teddy that belongs to the “Wakanda Space Empire” world in game. Set After the end of the Kree/ Skrull war. He is now acting king of both civilisations, married to Wiccan, much like they are in comics. When the Doctor Dooms start messing with the worlds one of those planets gets swapped out for one still in war time. (For argument let’s say planet hala {Kree}) That planet Hala lead by the supreme intelligence wants to continue fighting and dethrone Teddy so they team up with one of the Doom’s. Leading to Teddy being evacuated to Wakanda who help fend off the Kree. This means we can have an entire Skrullos/ Hala themed season. That’s a great setting for a map, as well as a great excuse to add hero’s like Wiccan and Speed useful for Wanda and Magneto’s story, Captain Marvel whose just too important to marvel comics to not show at some point, villains connected to the races like Yandu and the Super Skrull, its also an excuse to get the rest of the guardians in like Drax, Gamora, Nebula, and Cosmo the space Dog.

Happy New year! 2024 honestly was Mid. For all the great things I’m about to list there was equally shit bits. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to celebrate it.

This year, I completely upended my living space, Said goodbye to my family’s static Caravan, Got my phone snagged by Fergus MANY TIMES! Completed in my first Game Jam, Completed my first Inktober, attended my first pride, travelled down to Blackpool for the first time, almost had Blackpool tower collapse under my feet, played so many boardgames, and Successful complete my HNC. Definitely worth celebrating.

I may have went mad with this one. This was meant to be another artist who required me to make a comic. That’s not happening so instead I’m doing a highly rendered neon style BECAUSE THATS SO MUCH EASIER! So I draw Franco going mad.

The artist whose style I’m mimicking here is @par0llel ignoring how strong their colour palette is I wanted to study shading, shadows, and 3D-ness as it’s so vivid in their art. I don’t think I fully figured it out. There must be some trick to this kind of thing, but I like the final product. It’s nice 😊.

I’m free for the full day today, so I can try and catchup on some Franco doodles. This artist is @laenarraa a mainly Zelda fan artist but they do bits of everything.

I wanted to learn from them how to render messily but still have a neat outcome. They have overlaying line-art and messy blocky shadows that help ground their characters and bring out the expressions. I rarely enjoy the Link x Zelda thing the fanbase has but GOD, the way they are drawn in these artworks makes be adore them. There was also an anatomy lesson baked into this. (I need to get Franco a boyfriend…) beautiful art.

Anyway does this count as an impsona? I know fans create themselves as imps but Franco isn’t me… also Vivienne Madrano is on the wheel so I could just be doing the Hasbin Hotel style anyway… I DONT KNOW!

Today I rolled @lilivae_art whose colours are brilliant. I was really focusing on the bold lines and blocky colours. In planning I was torn between trying one of their toy drawings they do or going more realistic (still lovingly cartoony in this style but more realistic than the toys). It was the incredible depictions of Angeldust that inspired me to draw Franco tipsy like this.

I’ve never talked about that part of his character. Franco’s drinking problem came about as part joke, part foreshadowing, part callback to my Wizard character. See a running joke was I always seemed to roll better fireball spells when I was drunk, so we decided Franco couldn’t hold his boos. As Franco’s story became darker and darker the party started taking the joke more seriously and now he has a therapy dog for when he’s sad. 😄🐶
